Obituary for
Gordon R. Gent
GENT, Gordon R. - With deep sadness the family of Gordon Gent announces his peaceful passing at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on October 12, 2005, two weeks after his 85th birthday. He was the beloved only son of Gladys and "Alf" Gent and is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Ostrosser); children, Doreen (Grant) Dixon, Marni Gent (Mark Stewart), and grandson Christopher (Krista) Scott-Dixon. We will all miss and mourn him. Gord was an accomplished musician, playing the trombone with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, carrying his love of music throughout his life and passing it along to his family. He worked for many years at Stelco (Canada Works) with 5 years in the R.C.A.F. The bulk of his career was spent at Firestone Canada from where he took an early retirement at 62. His years at Firestone were happy ones for him and he retired to travel which he did extensively and enjoyed always. Special thanks to all the physicians, nurses and staff who treated Gordon over the last few months, especially the ICU staff at OTMH and to Sue Daignault for becoming part of our family when most needed. Visitation at SMITH`S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333, www.smithsfh.com) on Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Private interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Parkinson Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated. "Goodnight Sweet Prince"
