DUNCAN, George Douglas

Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the age of 95. Predeceased by his wife Margaret “Margie” Duncan (nee Malcom). Cherished partner and friend for 14 years of Marlene Bray. Dear brother of Robert “Bob” Duncan, Helen Jesseman (Edward), Ruth Nielson (Peter), Edith Cowie. Predeceased by his siblings John Duncan, James “Jim” Duncan, William “Bill” Duncan, Elsie Bergquist and his sister-in-law Claire Murray (Ralph). George will be missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

George was a veteran of WWII. He proudly served with the First Canadian Army, playing in various pipe bands, including the Irish Fusiliers. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge #400, #679 and #262. George also enjoyed a long and successful career as a supervisor in the express department at CN Railway.

Visitation will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 461 Elizabeth Street, Burlington on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. In keeping with George’s wishes, a private interment will take place in St. John, New Brunswick at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to World Vision Canada or Knox Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated.
