Peacefully at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Patt (formerly Lyall). Predeceased by his first wife Carmel. Loving father of Linda Morgan (Dale Culp) of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Joan Cavanagh (Alan Jaslow) of Pennsylvania, Jim Cavanagh of Morrisburg, Mary Cavanagh of Vancouver, B.C. and Helen Cavanagh of Burlington. Cherished Grandpa of Jessica, Jennifer and Jacob Ilton, Graham Morgan, Katie Anne, Amanda and Jim Cavanagh. Survived by his sister Ethel Bell of Peterborough. Predeceased by his brothers Michael and Leo and sisters Muriel, Irene, Clara and Camilla. Fergus will also be lovingly remembered by Patt's children; Andy Lyall (Pat), Tom Lyall (Nicki), Jane McLean (Robin) and Tricia Foster (Stuart). He was also a loving grandfather to their children; Alex, Eric, Jordan, Casey, Aidan, Alex, Jeff, Kate, Cameron and Elizabeth. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333) on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Road, Burlington on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
