It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Erich Schwarz at the Hamilton General Hospital on Friday March 25, 2011 at the age of 69 years.
Beloved husband of Mary Schwarz.
Loved father of Monica and Gordon Columbus of Abbottsford, BC; Ingrid and Gordon Klammer of Abbottsford, BC; David and Michelle Schwarz of Burlington; Daniel and Andrea Schwarz of Burlington.
Adored Opa of Joshua, Ben, Juliana, Joel, Olivia, Jonathan, Carissa, Elise, Zachary, Ava and Nathan.
Dear brother of Edwin Schwarz, Erika Prosser, Ulricke Schwarz and the late Irmgard Kwirant.
Erich was a builder. His legacy is the many buildings he built in the Hamilton area over the last fifty years, first as a union bricklayer and later as the owner of E. Schwarz Masonry.
Erich was a founding member of River Oaks Community Church in Oakville, and continued his involvement right up until his passing.
Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington, 905-632-3333 on Monday March 28 and Tuesday March 29 from 6-9pm. Memorial service will be held at Compass Point Church, 1500 Kerns Road, Burlington on Wednesday March 30 at 1pm.
Erich's faith, and passion for building led him three times in recent years to Guatemala where he volunteered his talents in building the William Cornelius Vocational Training Centre. If desired, donations to this school in memory of Erich would be greatly appreciated by the family.
