Obituary for Elizabeth "Beth" Hodkinson

Elizabeth "Beth" Hodkinson
Passed away peacefully at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington on April 23, 2011. Our mother has passed on to her next great adventure. She was predeceased by her adoring husband, John "Jack" in 2007. Her gift of love lives on in her family; son John, his partner Vanda, her daughter Spring Watson, her daughter June and son-in-law Tod Wright, her daughter Anne Waggoner, and her youngest daughter Lisa and son-in-law Robert Dietz. She was much loved and cherished by her grandchildren, Christopher (Chandra), Ian (Kim) and Morgan Hodkinson, Devon McLaughlin, George (Stephanie) and Missy Wright, Bradley, Tim (Gabrielle), and Dan Waggoner, Robert and William Dietz. She was the proud great grand mother of Avaleen Waggoner. She is also mourned by her sister Frances Elgie of Sault Ste Marie and her brother James Spring of Aurora. She will be missed by many friends at church, in her neighbourhood and at the bridge table. Her inclusivity, inquisitiveness, faith, acceptance and lust for life endeared her to people of all ages. Her philanthropy was an example to us and improved the lives of many. Mom's family is grateful for the many acts of kindness over the past four months; the food, flowers, notes, phone calls and most especially the prayers. We are also grateful for the wonderful care given by Dr. Michael Foster and by the superb staff and volunteers at the Carpenter Hospice. We so appreciate the nurses who came to the home and the support from CCAC. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at Port Nelson United Church , 3132 South Drive (at Rossmore), Burlington, on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery with her husband's at a later date. All are welcome to attend a reception following the service at Roseland Park Country Club, 3079 Princess Blvd, just west of the church, behind the tennis courts. Mom asked that memorial donations be made to Port Nelson United Church in her memory.
