Edward James "Jim" Pawley

Edward James Pawley
June 22, 1926
February 15, 2016

It is with heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Edward James (Jim) Pawley at Carpenter House Hospice, Burlington, Ontario.
Born in London Ontario to Edward and Daisy Mae (Pritchard) Pawley, Jim leaves his loving wife of 68 years Patricia Bernice (Crossley), sister Dolores (late John) Gallagher of Cobourg, his best friend and brother-in-law Donald (Joan) Crossley of Burlington, his devoted and loving children, Gayle (Keith) Wilson, of Venice, Florida, Dawn Wignall, of Hamilton, Candice (David) Yemm, of Callander, Cheryl (Pat) Carey, of Campbellville, Cameron (Cathy) Pawley, of Dundas, Jamie (Bryan) Pawley, of Cheltenham and extended family Linda (Al) Garniss. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren Carla, Aaron, Amber, Katelynn, RJ, Angela, Clinton, Michael, David, Becky, Krista, Maverick and Sky. Jim also leaves 14 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and sisters-in law Ruth Crossley and Madeline Camblin.
Jim was a WWII veteran serving with the Canadian Merchant Navy from 1943-1945. He was a proud member of the CMNVA, attending the last reunion in Ottawa in 2014.
Jim had been breeding AQHA horses since 1962 and was a proud member of AQHA.
Family was the most important to Jim throughout his life, followed by his AQHA horses.
True to Jim’s life he waited until Family Day to finally ride off on his favorite horse that has been patiently waiting for him in the shadows.
We will very much miss Jim’s colourful stories of family, horses and his words of wisdom and advice when we needed some assistance through our life journeys. He gave us his values of Honesty, Integrity and Humility to pass down to future generations.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Carpenter House for their continued care and respect during Jim’s final months. Thank you to Acclaim nurses and Care Partners, especially Norman and Stephanie, who became part of our family for many months.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Carpenter House, Burlington: http://www.thecarpenterhospice.com/donation.php , the Shannon Burwash Scholarship Fund: http://cqha.ca/about/scholarships/shannon-burwash-memorial-scholarship to provide scholarships to Canadian Youth continuing education in Agriculture or equine studies, or the Salvation Army, who provided supplies during WW11.
No service by request. Cremation has taken place.
May You Rest In Peace.
