Obituary for Edna (neddie) Grant

GRANT, Edna (Neddie)
Quietly, in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 16, 2006, our lovely lady went to join her beloved late husband Finlay Grant. Loving Mum of Deborah Koyata and her husband John Allen. Cherished Granny of Nolan. Predeceased by her son in law, Lance. Neddie will be deeply missed by Yvonne and Michael Blakey of England and their children, Andrew, Helen and Rachel. Sadly missed by her brother in law Andrew Grant and his wife Bobbie and many nieces and nephews. Loving to and loved by James, Caileigh, Alessia, Amanda, Abbie and second daughter Shirley Sangster and husband Douglas. She will be greatly missed by the Koyata and Allen families. Daughter of the late Thomas and Edith Winterburn of Harrogate, England; Edna first came to Canada as a warbride at the age of 23. After the loss of her first husband, she returned to England but didn`t settle. Canada beckoned her back where she met and fell in love with Finlay. Edna married Finlay in 1952 at St. Margaret`s Church in Tetrauville, Montreal and she was welcomed into the large Grant Clan. Along with their daughter, they moved and settled in Ontario in 1971. With faith and love, they faced and surmounted life`s challenges together. Our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Alexander Place and gratitude for the tender care shown by the nurses and medical team at McMaster. A Celebration of Edna`s Life will be held at Grace Anglican Church,157 Mill Street North, Waterdown on Monday March 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Christian Children`s Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. (Arrangements entrusted to SMITH`S FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 www.smithsfh.com )
