Bonnell, Douglas Lawrence William 1938 â€" 2010 - It is with profound sorrow that we announce Doug's sudden passing at home Sunday June 20, 2010. Loving husband, friend and partner of Dianne (nee Lee) for 25 years. Proud and loving father of Michael and his wife Carole of Montreal, Sherry and her husband Tony of Burlington, Andrew and Gregory at home. Treasured and beloved Grandpa (Baboo) to Marisa and her fiancé Shane, Alana, Cedric and Patrick. Younger brother of Arthur and his wife Jeanne of Jay, Vermont; brother-in-law to Marilynne and her husband Ken of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Loving uncle to Garry and his wife Linda and their daughter Amanda; Judy, Sandra and her husband Walter, Alex, Evan, David, Stacey and Sadie. Doug was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec where he developed and perfected his ‘joie de vivre'. Doug commenced his career in information technology with IBM and continued his passion for information systems until his retirement from Redpath Sugars in 2001. An enthusiastic skier and boater, Doug loved living large in the great outdoors and treasured his days on the slopes or the lake at the cottage. The family will receive friends at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
