Obituary for Doris Helen Ronald

Ronald, Doris Helen (Lewis)
1920-2005
Mom loved life and those around her- our father, William (1987), son Billy (1949), son David (Kristen), daughter Linda (Wayne 2000), grandsons William and David, mother Grace (1986) and father Jack (1972), sisters Mary, Marie (1922), Fran (Larry), Jackie (Joe) and nieces and nephews. A lifelong beach community resident, mom experienced the best of times- swimming, skating, ice boating (mom`s boat was called the White Ghost), sailing, fishing and trapping on the Bay. The Beach Rescue Unit has always been a big part of our parents lives as well as the Tuesday afternoon Beach Seniors. So many wonderful hours playing cards- Euchre and Cribbage (including a perfect hand) at St. Alban`s, Burlington`s Navy Club and Legion with friends who were an absolute joy to her. Mom worked at Sovereign Potters prior to her marrying dad and raising a family and for seven years did volunteer work at Joseph Brant Hospital. A keen bowler, mom was in various leagues for 50 years including her very own Canal League. Mom`s life was a rich mosaic surrounded by a family who loved her, good friends, good times and a wonderful community. Mom`s favourite expressions were "why not" Â"let`s go"and Â"I can do it". With that attitude towards life we have been given an example of how to handle adversity through acceptance and enjoy life. Visitation at SMITH`S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton.
Â"We will miss her"
