With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Colin Shakespeare on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Carpenter Hospice, Burlington with his wife and daughter by his side. Survived by his wife Ellen and two previous wives Marcia and Sheila. Also survived by his son David (Children David, Douglas, Jessie) and daughter Debra (Byron) McCormack (Children Cayley and Alondra) and step-children Mark (Patti), Susan, Judy (Gary), Kim, Bill (Janice), late Charles, Andrew (Maureen) and their children. Born on June 11, 1935 in Croydon, England Colin studied at the Royal Aircraft Establishment in Farnborough, England from 1952 â" 1957. He lived in Montreal from 1957 â" 1961 and then moved to Ontario where he worked for Westinghouse from 1961 â" 1991. Colin was always active sharing his time and talents with many groups including Theatre Burlington and Player's Guild of Hamilton, First Aid (St. John, Red Cross, Heart and Stroke) and most recently March of Dimes (Design Ability) and the Burlington Seniors' Centre. Colin will be remembered as a "fix-it" person for family, friends, house things, cars, computers and photography. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop north of QEW) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until the celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society would be sincerely appreciated.
