Obituary for Charles Selwood "Chuck" Bartram

Charles Selwood "Chuck" Bartram
BARTRAM, Charles (Chuck) Selwood
Passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the age of 65. Survived by his loving wife, Sharon (nee Pankratz). Dear brother to Liz (Jess) Proulx, and David (Barbara) Bartram. He will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. Chuck was a very giving person and in the spirit of service joined the Peel Regional Police where he proudly served his community for 37 years. But policing was only one of his many passions and those who knew him will attest to his incredible insight of firearms, watches, militaria and aviation milestones. It was this encyclopedic knowledge that made Chuck such an interesting and complex individual and one whose passing will have a profound effect on those who shared those interests with him. But whether you knew Chuck through work or through common interests or simply was fortunate to know Chuck in general one would agree that the word “gentleman” best illustrates how he lived his life. For Chuck, it was not something that he had to work at – it just seemed to come naturally. It is for that reason he will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop-light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 14 at 10:30 a.m. Reception in the Tiffany Ball Room at Marquis Gardens Grande Ancaster, 1365 Sandhill Drive, Ancaster, Ont. to follow. Private cremation has taken place. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Hospital or to St. Peter’s Hospital in appreciation for the care and empathy shown to Chuck in his final days or to the National Rifle Association to commemorate the active role that Chuck played in the ongoing conversation about private gun ownership.
