Obituary for Carole Ann Hawn (Schario)

Carole Ann Hawn (Schario)
Carole Ann Hawn – Born-May 23, 1955 Died-February 14, 2016

Carole was the youngest of three children born in Kitchener to Leonard and Rita Schario (deceased).
Her older brother, Jim, deceased in 2014 and middle sister, Susan, deceased in 2003, were her closest relatives.
Carole graduated from St. Mary’s High School and moved to Toronto at 18 to study nursing at St. Michael’s Hospital.
She met Robert Hawn while attending St. Mike’s and they were inseparable since, getting married in May of 1980.
They were blessed with their first son, Jeffrey in 1982 and their second, James in 1986, and eventually her cat Minky.
In the interim, Carole practised nursing at Mississauga (Trillium) Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener and Scarborough General Hospital.
She later found an opportunity to work in private practice with Robin Searle, fitting contact lenses, and then as office administrator for Selectacare, providing nurses and PSW’s for senior and shut-in patients.
Another opportunity arose for her to act as administrator for a commercial printing company and then she took a position with Eyes-on-Sheppard as office administrator for 7 optometrists. That position morphed into one as the primary patient contact for appointment booking.
The family had lived for 32 years in Toronto, lastly in North York, and moved to Burlington to be nearer family in 2012.
Last year Carole retired from the workforce to concentrate on her home and family.
In December of 2015, Carole was diagnosed with lung cancer and after stays at Juravinski Hospital and Joseph Brant Hospital, she succumbed to the disease at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington on Valentine’s Day.
Carole spent her entire life caring for others; related, friends or strangers.
In her honour, please care for someone, anyone.
