Obituary for Cameron Meed

MEED, Ivan Cameron

Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the age of 81, after battling bone cancer with his characteristic blend of optimism, good nature and humour. Beloved husband of Marian (Machande) Meed. Loving father of Suzanne Bracewell (Brad), Marianne Meed Ward (Peter), Deanne Gemmill (Jon) and Jonathan Meed (Marsha). Cherished grandfather of Victoria, Natalya, Amelia (Bracewell), Miranda, Nicholas, Alexandra (Ward). Mitchell, Trevor, Natasha, Alyssa, Karina (Meed), Jana, T.J and Megan (Gemmill). Cam will be remembered for his easy way with people, willingness to lend a hand and quirky sense of humour, especially his love of puns (a favourite: I’m not anti-semantic, some of my best friends are words). He was undeterred by the groans of his children, who found we missed his corny jokes when we left home. Cam was an avid hunter, fisher and hiker, instilling a love of the outdoors in his family. Never one to stay in one place for long, Cam’s ashes are being scattered across Canada and the United States in the parks, mountains and trails he frequented. He was often absent on his many travels, collecting stories and memories, some true, some more embellished, but always entertaining. He was comforted throughout his life by his Christian faith, and at the end he was ready to meet his maker. Be at peace. We love you and will miss you. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Cameron are asked to please consider the Bruce Trail Association or the Salvation Army. Condolences can be posted online at www.smithsfh.com
