Obituary for Bill (william) Rogers

Bill (william)  Rogers
ROGERS, William Dean
Passed away at Carpenter Hospice
with his loving wife and best friend
Ardelle at his side, on Wednesday,
November 3, 2010, after losing his
inspirational and courageous 13
year battle with non Hodgkin's
lymphoma. He held on for over a
decade with courage and strength
through numerous courses of
treatments, tests, and hospital visits.
Despite all this, Bill still retained his
tremendous sense of humour and
his infectious smile until the end. Bill
will be dearly missed by his wife
Ardelle, his son Michael (Dorothy),
and his daughter Christine. Dear
stepfather of Sharon (Peter), Brian
(Heidi), and Scott (Meredith). Loving
grandpa of Valerie (Joey), and
Kevin, and Papa Bill to Grant,
Kirstie, Sawyer, Amber, and Ashley.
Bill played football for the Black
Knights Football Club of Oakville,
Bill and his brother Jack operated
Jack Rogers Sporting Goods -
Oakville. Bill went on to teach at
John Diefenbaker Secondary School
in Hanover and Pauline Johnson
Collegiate - Vocational School in
Brantford where he coached
football. He made many lasting
friends through his involvement in
teaching and his activities including
the Silver Sliders golf, curling at
Burlington Golf and Country Club,
and the Primetimers Bowling
League. Bill will be missed by his
many friends. A special thank you
to Carpenter Hospice for the
exceptional compassion and care.
Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL
HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight
north of QEW), BURLINGTON
(905-632-3333), on Sunday 3-5 and
7-9 p.m. where funeral service will
be held on Monday, November 8,
2010 at 4 p.m. Private cremation to
follow. In lieu of flowers, donations
to the Carpenter Hospice or the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
would be greatly appreciated by the
family.
