Obituary for Annie Smutek

SMUTEK, Annie - Peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2006, we lost the cornerstone and matriarch of our family. Annie has passed on to join her late husbands, Joseph Pietrzyk and Michael Smutek. Annie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Julie (Steve) Wasylowich, son Ronald (Shirley) Patrick, and daughter-in-law Yvette Patrick. Annie is also survived by her three sisters Polly, Dora and Mary, and her brothers Nick (Eileen) and Alec. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary, son Michael, grandson Martin, daughter-in-law Catherine Mary, son-in-law Fred, brothers John, Mike and Bill, and sister-in-law Louise. In her 96 years, Annie suffered through many hardships but each time persevered and became a strong, independent, feisty woman - qualities she held on to until she died. Her life was filled with love and family. Annie watched as her family expanded to include 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to hear her stories and pieces of history. A special thank-you to Annie's lifelong friend Mary Rydz and her daughter Elsie Rydz for all they have done to help Annie over the years. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) Thursday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, 2261 Parkway Drive, Burlington on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 10am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Vigil for Annie Thursday 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Â"Although it feels as if there is a little empty hole inside all of us, we know how rich and full our lives are for having known her."
