Obituary for Alfred (alf) MacMillan

MacMillan, Alfred (Alf) Edwin, C.D.

Passed away at McNally House, Grimsby, on Thursday, December 30, 2010, in his 89thyear. Predeceased by his loving wife Joyce (1990) sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Jack Steddick. Dear father of Bonnie Lee Schruise (Robert) of New York. Cherished grandfather of Scott Cudney (Amy) of New York and Shanna Watson of Nevada and great-grandfather of Kenny and Kyle Cudney. He will be missed by his dearest friend Helen Lefebvre. Alf was a veteran of WW II, serving in the RCNVR and RCNR for 33 years. He was a long-time member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Grimsby, Past President of the Grimsby Curling Club and after his service in the Navy became a masonry contractor building many fine homes in the Grimsby area. Alf was goaltender for the 1946-47 OHA Intermediate B Champion Grimsby Peach Kings. He coached Juvenile Hockey in Grimsby and was an avid Maple Leaf and Blue Jays fan. His many friends in the Niagara area, the Legion and the Coffee Group will also miss him dearly. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Legion Service by Branch #127, Sunday 7pm at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 156 Main Street West, Grimsby, on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Andrew's Churchyard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House or the WLMH Auxiliary would be sincerely appreciated.
