Obituary for Alexander John Williamson

Alexander John Williamson
WILLIAMSON, Alexander December 21st, 1930 - April 1st, 2016.
Loving husband to the late Shirley (nee Fletcher). Loving Father to Janet, Stuart (Patricia) and Cynthia (Barron). Grandfather to Rachel (Russ), Roger, Russell, Scott, Brittney, and Brianna. Great Grandfather to Andrew, Zoe and Micheal. Loving brother to Velma Lewis. He also leaves behind nieces Sharon, Linda, Jacquie, Kristine and Joanne and he dearly missed their parents Jack & Pat and Ray & Muriel (both Fletcher). He fondly remembered his good friends in Elliot Lake.
Alex was a good husband, a good father and a good friend. He knew what was important in life - time with friends and family. That usually included good food and wine (or Scotch) and winning at Scrabble, cribbage or Trivial Pursuit. Our family life was full of fun and laughter.
He loved drawing and painting and photography, cooking, gardening and feeding the birds (and the occasional bear). Fishing was a favourite pastime - stream or lake, summer or winter.
Special thanks to the nurses, PSWs, physio, program staff and friends at Burloak Longterm Care for taking care of Alex after his stroke and for their warmth and caring for all of us in his final days.
Private cremation has taken place. If desired, expressions of sympathy to the Elliot Lake Public Library, Elliot Lake Society for Animals in Distress, Canadian Wildlife Federation or JazzFM would be appreciated by the family.
