DRUMM, Gerald Francis "Jerry" (1929-2017)

Sadly we announce the death of Jerry at Billings Court Manor on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Peggy (nee Creamer). Dear father of Suzanne (Craig) Anderson, Gregory and Rochelle Drumm (Paul MacLatchy). Loving step-father to Kelly Hopkins and Michael Hopkins. Cherished grandfather to Alex, Kenny, Fay and Amelia. Dear brother of Raymond and Edward. Will be greatly missed by his family, friends and especially by dear friends Peter (Joanne) Kenny of Oakville. Jerry was raised on a farm in Colbourg, Ontario. He was the second youngest of 12 children. He loved the farming life and all that it entailed. He didn't return to classes until after the fall harvest Jerry worked on the Lakers for one summer while saving money for university. He loved sharing tales of his adventures. He studied chemical engineering at Queen's, where he completed both an undergrad and Masters degree. He worked in Montreal and Kingston before teaching Engineering at Algonquin College in Ottawa for over 20 years. Jerry had a quick wit, a great sense of humour and a happy demeanour. He was always up for a laugh. He enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing and playing card games. He will be sadly missed by his wife Peg, family and friends. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4-7 pm where a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 196 Kenwood Avenue, Burlington, on Saturday, March 11 at 10:30 am. For those who wish, donations in memory of Jerry may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice.
