Obituary for Norman Nicholl

NICHOLL, NORMAN (1933-2016)
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of much loved Norm in his 83rd year on the 21st of July, 2016 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Veronica. Survived by his daughters Kim and Lisa, daughter-in-law Joan, granddaughters Kirsten Nicholl and Molly MacMillan. Predeceased by his son Brian and his son-in-law Gordon Cheesbrough. Norman was a Yorkshireman. He met his fiery Irish wife, Vera, in Shrewsbury England. They immigrated to Canada in 1959 where he settled in Burlington and worked for many years in sales at Stress Crete/Great Lakes Wire. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending hours in his garden, was a voracious reader and always had a crossword puzzle on the go. But it was his passion for cooking that led him to volunteer for several years with his wife in the kitchen at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, where he would also entertain all with his love of ragtime piano. The family would like to thank Dr. Sun and the staff on 5W, 5S and 4E at Joseph Brant Hospital. A private cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Burlington Public Library and Carpenter Hospice.
