Obituary for William John Gordon "BIll" Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, William John Gordon "Bill"-

Bill was born in Hamilton to Margaret and William Montgomery. Bill and his partner Eileen met while in high school and married when they were 19 and have enjoyed over 52 years of marriage together. He was always interested in electronics and technology and had a career as an electronics engineer with the government until retirement at the age of 55. Bill was a HAM radio enthusiast (VE3EC), a passion and callsign he inherited from his father. He loved rock music and concerts, instilling in his son Russell that same love.

Bill was a family man. He loved and was proud of his family. He was a kind and gentle soul who was skilled in so many things including being a pen maker and watercolour artist. He loved to build remote controlled airplanes and could fix anything! His love for tech got passed on to his three sons. Bill was a fan of British TV and in particular Coronation Street so having their son Ben living in the UK brought that life closer. Bill still talked about the trips he took to meet the cast of Corrie as well as other travel adventures including their big trips to China and Australia to visit their son Dan.

Bill died of Lewy Body Dementia. He will be forever missed by his wife Eileen as well as his sons Russell (Marie), Dan (Clara) and Ben (Elaine) and his precious granddaughter Nicole (6) who he loved so very much. Nicole was one of his greatest joys and he took pleasure in all she did. She will miss her park visits with Poppy. Bill is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara (Harold).
