Valerie and I met in January, 1955, when our parents bought homes in Fort Garry, Manitoba. We attended Junior High and High School together. I moved to California in 1960 and we had little contact for many years. However, we reestablished our friendship after both of us had our own families and we attended high school reunions together and each visited in each other's homes in California and Toronto. We kept up a lively correspondence about our travels as well as religious and political discussions. Valerie sent me envelopes of clippings of editorials from Canadian newspapers and we continued discourse about current events. She was energetic, intelligent and had a zest for life that few have. I was so grateful to have her as a lifelong friend and will always feel the void of having lost her. Rest in peace, my beautiful friend. We had planned on seeing you this summer and our trip to Toronto will not be the same without you there. My condolences to you, Adrian, your wife and Julian. And also to Valerie's three brothers, Fred, Robert and Ronald and their families. Her letters were full of news of all of you and she dearly loved you.

Valerie and I worked together in the late ‘80’, early 90’s. Both of us being sailors, we occasionally got together to talk about sailing and to “splice the main brace.” Lovely person, she will ever be remembered.

Valerie was a dear friend of mine for many years. About a year ago, she came to Kentucky to visit me. My favorite memory of her is from that trip. I took her to a little family owned animal park. We rode in a golf cart through the woods on the gravel path to see the various animals. She was very interested in the many types of trees in the woods along the path as well as the animals that we encountered. We stopped many times so she could get close to nature. We laughed, enjoyed nature and made precious memories. She will be missed. Photo is us at Kentucky Lake.
