PARRIS, Thomas Dudley
(1924-06-02 to 2020-12-07)

Passed away at The Brant Centre on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Parris (2014). Loving father of David (Jackie), John, Mike (Nicola) and Eric (Paula). Proud grandfather of Chris (Dana), Jennifer (Noel), Kyle (Jess), Mark (Jess), Zachary, Elyse (Cory), Garrett and Stephanie. Cherished great-grandfather of Regan, Jaylene, Indie, Harlow, Ellie, Addison, Calvin and Grace.

Tom was born and raised in Barbados. At 18 yrs of age, he came to Canada to join the RCAF. During the war he piloted missions in England, the Middle East and Burma from 1943 to 1945, ultimately awarded the Burma Star. He and Shirley married on August 16, 1946. Tom graduated from Mining Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1949, after which he joined INCO (now VALE) operations in Sudbury. Starting as an underground Shift Boss, he rose through the ranks, eventually retiring from INCO in 1982 as VP Mining & Milling. After that, he held several senior management and ownership positions in Southern Ontario firms. Still active and energetic at age 80, he finally retired to spend time with his large family.

He was a very energetic man who the family affectionately nicknamed "Thundering Dudley". His wonderful personality was ever present as was his extraordinary ability to relate to people of all walks of life.

A special thank you to the staff at The Brant Centre for their excellent care and compassion. As per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated.
