Obituary for Severin Heinrich Sorger

Severin (Sepp) Sorger, born June 30, 1932, immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1956 with his first wife Helga. In 1982, Sepp was married to Alana (nee Ward deceased 2009) and became a happy Papa to her two young daughters, Allison and Leeanne. Over the years he became the grandfather to Allison's children Cheanise, Keichantae, Emma and Elijah and great-grandfather to Antonio. A long-time resident of Mericourt Road, Burlington, Sepp retired from the Union Gas Company over 25 years ago, but happily reminded us often and with great pride that he knew where the location of all the gas lines were in most of Halton. Sepp was a member of the Burlington Navy Club. He enjoyed watching the Bundesliga matches with Elijah and playing Golf with his friends. Sepp was well known in his neighbourhood as a kind, warm hearted, outgoing man and known for the “little sandwiches” he made for his many friends. Always accessible through his garage-turned-“man cave”, he would welcome his friends/neighbours for lunch or simply to chat over a rum and coke or a “half and half”.

He was “one of a kind “and he and his humour will be missed by those his life touched, especially his sister Rosemarie and her husband Helmut, brother Hans Günter, step daughters Allison and Leeanne and her partner Steve, grandchildren, great-grandchild, niece Beata and her husband Thomas, niece Carmen and her husband Eric Barnes, nephew Steven Neuert and wife Anne, nephew Johen and his wife Anke, his three nieces Petra, Antje and Silke and great nephew Fabian and great niece Leni.

Sepp passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Rest in Peace “Seppy”. We love you. Auf Wiedersehen … Wir Lieben dich!!!
