Obituary for Sandra Lush

Lush, Sandra Kay (Nee Burgett)
We said goodbye to our beauty, Sandra Lush on February 2nd, 2021. It’s hard to believe the sun still rises and a new day begins without her here with us. Sandy provided a home that welcomed all her friends and family. Her home was forever a beehive of activity. Sandy always said she wanted a house with a white picket fence and a screen door that slammed so she could hear all her loved ones coming and going. She created a magical place for her family to live. Swim parties late into the summer evenings. Festive holidays with every inch of her home decorated. Hours in the kitchen cooking and baking the most amazing food, the house always smelling like her culinary masterpieces. Evenings spent with family talking for hours listening to jazz and drinking wine by candlelight.
Sandy was truly a one of a kind. Born the daughter of a coal miner in Wyoming County in the Appalachia region of West Virginia. Forever a country girl at heart. She left West Virginia and traveled to New York City where she landed a position with Eastern Airlines, working at the famous Rockefeller Center. Eventually her career brought her to Canada where she worked at the iconic Royal York Hotel. Eventually she met her beloved husband Gerry Lush and together they nurtured a family business called Gerry Lush Clothier. There they welcomed customers who became like a second family, until their retirement.

Our love. We played waves for you on our last night together and took your hand. We took one last walk on the beach and told you Pappaw was on the pier fishing and waving you over. That it was time to go to him and he would look after you now. It was then you took your last breath and our world changed forever. Leaving behind to carry on your legacy, your one true love Gerry Lush, adoring daughters Siobhan Brown and Kathleen Marks, adopted sons Fraser Brown and Bryan Marks, and 3 adorable grandchildren Teagan Marks, Declan Marks and Kaden Brown. We will miss our long talks. There are so many things we want to tell you and questions yet to ask. But we know you are at peace tending your gardens and walking your country roads. Until we meet again you will forever be our rock, our treasure, and our one and only Mountain Momma.
