Obituary for Sandra Mary Johnston (Wood)

Peacefully at home on July 11,2021 Sandra left this world to go and fastidiously organize things on the other side. A force of nature and one one to be reckoned with, she was 5 feet and 1 inches of pure moxey and determination wrapped in an impeccably well-groomed package. She suffered fools badly and took credit for the slogan ‘Just Do It’ before Nike claimed it. She had the most impressively organized home and cleanest car interior you’ll ever see in your life and always knew the exact chance of precipitation on any given day of the week. She also had a raucous sense of humour, a penchant always for fun and the dirtiest laugh in the world that made others laugh out loud. She loved nothing better than riding shot gun on a good road trip to anywhere.

Born in 1939 to Stanley and Jean Wood, Sandra grew up in Montreal. True to her tenacious character she became one of the first female managers at Bell Canada in the early 1960’s and later a top realtor in both the West Island and Burlington. She married Ken in 1962, a man more than twice her age and the love of her life, and together they proved that May-December can survive even the greatest of storms.

She was, quite simply, an awesome and impressive lady. She protected those she loved and in return was loved by so many. She had integrity and class above all else.

Devoted and loving wife to the late Ken (1998), loyal big sister to Maureen, Walter and Grant, lovely aunt to Debbie, Susan, Wendy, Bretton, Stephanie and Kimberly, adoring Nana to Ella and Lottie and fiercely protective Mama Bear to Ken and Alix.

She will be desperately missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burlington Humane Society. A private celebration of life for family will be held later this Summer.
