Obituary for Rowland Warren "Dutch" Cunningham

Passed away at St. Peter's Hospital, on Sunday, October 1, 2023, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Doreen (nee Cowe) for over 70 years. Loved father of Cyndi Gardner (Allan), Cheryl Hedley (Grant), Sheila Meridith (late Bill), Jeanine Mather (Dave) and the late Warren Cunningham (1986) and the late Linda McKay (1989)(Dave). Cherished grandfather of Joe (Angela), Jennifer (Dave), Nicole, Melissa (Sean), Kathleen (Dave), Kyle (Kelly), Amy (Matt), Jeff (Zanna), Carrie (Rodney), Lindsay (Paul), Andrew (Britney), Heather (Joe), Sarah (Richard) and Chris (Melissa), thirty great-grandchildren (two deceased) and one great-great grandson. Predeceased by his parents Gertrude and Roy Cunningham and by his siblings Merle, Bill, Elmer, Violet, Edith, Mae, Marie and Ruth. Brother-in-law of James (Joanne), Andrew (Denise), Sylvia (late Mike), Gloria (Joe), Carolyn (late George) and the late Irene.

Dutch was retired from Stelco after 40 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed creating things in his workshop, fishing and spending time at the cottage. Port Dover’s summer days, filled with four generations of family, held a special place in his heart. Light-hearted and mischievous, his teasing brought endless smiles.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where the Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11 a.m.
