Obituary for Ronald Alexander "Ron" Garva

GARVA, Ronald Alexander –
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his wife and children, on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Karen (nee Honsberger) for 48 years. Loving father of Mike (Hillary) and Amy (Andrew Ion). Cherished Grandpa of Mara and Libby, and treasured Baba of Alexander and Abby. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Lillian Garva and sister Patricia (late Peter Carroll). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ron had a passion for fishing, which started when he was a young boy with his father at Rice Lake. Ron continued to fish throughout his entire life and loved fishing with his family at Rice Lake, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. Ron also loved to golf, and once he managed to introduce golf to his children, every family vacation would involve multiple golf games. Ron enjoyed his weekly euchre games at the Burlington Seniors centre, and was especially excited when he would get a portion of the winnings. Ron was a sports fan for his entire life, loving all sports. His favourite teams to watch were the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Bills, Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Argonauts. He also really enjoyed watching darts and the weather channel. After many years, Ron finally got to enjoy watching his favourite sports in the comfort of his La-Z-Boy. Ron loved taking his family on road trips to various locations, such as Boston, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, some of which included short detours in the opposite direction. Ron spent many summers in Collingwood in his later years enjoying the company of Karen, the scenic Georgian Bay shoreline and, of course, golf. Ron was an accountant, and even after retirement would happily answer questions for many family and friends at tax time.

We would also like to give special thanks to the oncology nurses of 6C and all the staff at the oncology unit at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care of Ron.
