Obituary for Roland George Taylor

TAYLOR, Roland George –
Passed away at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the age of 83, unrelated to COVID-19. Beloved husband of Marie (nee Gaynor) for 27 wonderful years. Loving father of Barbara Rogers (Richard), Julie Coulter, Sandy Coulter (Stuart Englander), Patricia Rees-Jones and Jacqui Armitage (Jeff). Cherished Grandfather of Jordan Vaeth (Heather Foster), Amber Kooiman (Quinton), Carley Goddard, Megan Rees-Jones, Taryn Rees-Jones, Kiara Rees-Jones, Matthew McConville, Cecilia Armitage, Randy Armitage and Great-Grandfather of Aiden and Dylan Kooiman, Ryker Widdes, and Max Vaeth. Dear brother of Garth Taylor (Dianne), Mark Taylor, Gail Taylor, David Taylor and Joan Cassidy (Jack). Predeceased by his sister Debbie.

Roland will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Roland was a very caring, humble man who adored his wife Marie. They spent 27 happy married years together enjoying wonderful hikes on the Bruce, the Cataract and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. He was extremely funny and was the life of any party, loved to dress up and play tricks. Marie and he loved gardening and made spectacular flower beds where they ever lived. Three family weddings were held in their garden with birds singing and flowers all around. In the evening they had a wee drink together, especially a GUINNESS or SCOTCH, his favourites.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a Private Family Service will be held with interment at Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army and the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.smithsfh.com
