TAYLOR, Roland George –
Passed away at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the age of 83, unrelated to COVID-19. Beloved husband of Marie (nee Gaynor) for 27 wonderful years. Loving father of Barbara Rogers (Richard), Julie Coulter, Sandy Coulter (Stuart Englander), Patricia Rees-Jones and Jacqui Armitage (Jeff). Cherished Grandfather of Jordan Vaeth (Heather Foster), Amber Kooiman (Quinton), Carley Goddard, Megan Rees-Jones, Taryn Rees-Jones, Kiara Rees-Jones, Matthew McConville, Cecilia Armitage, Randy Armitage and Great-Grandfather of Aiden and Dylan Kooiman, Ryker Widdes, and Max Vaeth. Dear brother of Garth Taylor (Dianne), Mark Taylor, Gail Taylor, David Taylor and Joan Cassidy (Jack). Predeceased by his sister Debbie.

Roland will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Roland was a very caring, humble man who adored his wife Marie. They spent 27 happy married years together enjoying wonderful hikes on the Bruce, the Cataract and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. He was extremely funny and was the life of any party, loved to dress up and play tricks. Marie and he loved gardening and made spectacular flower beds where they ever lived. Three family weddings were held in their garden with birds singing and flowers all around. In the evening they had a wee drink together, especially a GUINNESS or SCOTCH, his favourites.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, a Private Family Service will be held with interment at Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton. If desired, donations to the Salvation Army and the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at

Roland was my Dad in every sense of the word. I love him so much and treasure all of our times together since I was 12 years old. All of the love, support, advice and guidance he gave me has shaped me into who I am today.
He is so loved and so deeply missed by Cecilia and Randy who adored their Grampy and have had so many wonderful adventures with him...he will live on forever through our memories, pictures and videos. Hiking, sleepovers at both of our houses, special restaurant treats, the cottage, dancing, telling jokes and always making our family complete.
Jeff is deeply grieving the loss of his amazing father in law and will miss all the conversations over a beer or a coffee and the fun they had together.
His devotion to our entire family and the deep love he had for Mum is an inspiration to all of us to strive for.
You were one in a million Roli.
'Til we meet again, I know you are watching over us. Xo

I just read the article in the Cambridge Times about the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Please accept my condolences and prayers for your family during this time. I read the article and cried at the sense of loss heightened by the extreme measures necessary during this crisis. Thank you for your message to others during your time of loss. God bless. The best grandfather I could ask for. Roland, you had a charm that couldn't be ignored, and we were all very lucky you came into our lives. You made it to the finish line with a family who loved you dearly and will miss you the same way. That's a successful life anyone would be proud of, but it still hurts to say goodbye.

Love you Gramps

Over the years I have raised many glasses with Roland, now I raise one to him

It is a wonderful thing to say that pretty much all my memories of Roland are a little blurry and fuzzy

Always the life of the party in a room full of life of the parties

Cheers Roland
