Obituary for Rev. William Davies Gibb

After a long battle with dementia, Rev. William (Bill) Gibb has peacefully passed away at the age of 87 at the Revera Burloak Long Term Care Home. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years Louise Belanger. He is predeceased by his parents Howard and Lavinia Gibb and his sister Janalyn. Bill had a long career with Abitibi-Price before retirement. Bill was a deacon at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Burlington for several years during which he devoted his time to visiting elderly seniors and doing church services at various long term care homes in Burlington. He was also a volunteer with the Alzheimer Society and VON. Bill loved sports, especially hockey and was a fan of the Montreal Canadiens. He played as a goal tender in Montreal before moving to Burlington where he joined the Burlington Oldtimers hockey league. He enjoyed golfing, live theater and music. After retirement, he also spent time traveling overseas with his wife to several European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. He will be missed by his wife, family, and friends. Our special thanks to Dr. R. Douglas and the staff of Revera Burloak Long Term Care Home for their support, compassion, and excellent care of Bill. A celebration of life will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church (1371 Elgin St., Burlington) on Saturday, November 19 at 2 p.m. Interment St. Luke’s Anglican Churchyard. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.
