Obituary for Rejeanne Cecile Flake (Lalonde)

“Mom”, “Grandma”, “GG” passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by the “Love of her life”, her beloved husband Bernard. Réjeanne was born at home in Rayside/Chelmsford and lived in Blezard Valley until she and Dad moved to Burlington. She taught school for over 35 years. She was involved in her church communities in the music ministry and the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge, golf and tennis. She valued education and, amazingly, completed Grade 13 and her BA Degree while still teaching full time and looking after her home and family. She also learned to swim as an adult. She battled health issues for many years and often said, “I’m pretty tough.” She treasured all family get-togethers whether indoors at holidays, by the pool in the summer, or at the Ahmic Lake cottage. In recent years, we remember her enjoying the beautiful view from her window.
Loving mother of Susan (Roger) Wood and Bob (Mary-Lynne) Flake. Cherished grandmother of Diane, Derek, Sandra, Jillian, Daniel and Ryan. Doting great grandmother of Ava-Lynn, Mila, Benson, Zoey, Juliet, and Blythe. Predeceased by parents Henri and Dina, and siblings Lorraine and Ubald. Fondly remembered by siblings Claudette, Alberte, Bob, Larry, Richard and Donald.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday, July 4 from 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church (4072 New Street, Burlington) on Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
A Memorial Mass will be held in the Sudbury area, prior to interment at Park Lawn Cemetery later this summer.
For those who wish, memorial donations to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or the Toronto General Hospital Liver Clinic would be appreciated by the family.
