Obituary for Redenta Vittoria Massignani

Redenta Vittoria Massignani

MASSIGNANI, Redenta Vittoria (nee Povolo)
It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, after a brief illness, at London University Hospital. The gentle hearted Redenta was the loving wife of Clemente for 64 years, dedicated mother to George and the late John and wonderful grandmother to Andrew and Sophia. Redenta was like a mother to her youngest sister, Annamaria (the late Tarcisio) as well as a grandmother figure to her nieces and nephew, Nada (Kevin), Lisa (Paul), and Marco. Predeceased by her parents Angelo and Maddalena as well as her brothers Armando (Leonie) in Belgium and Renato (Daniela) in Italy. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family in Italy, especially her sister Liliana (the late Lorenzo). Redenta was born in Valdagno, Italy in 1930 and immigrated to Burlington in 1959. She possessed a gentle smile and a heart of gold and was extremely devoted to her family, especially her two sons. She was a talented cook, baker, gardener and knitter and shared her many talents with all those she loved. Her devout faith in the Lord and Saint Rita of Cascia gave her guidance and strength throughout her life. Visitation will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), Burlington on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 2016 Blairholm Avenue (at Brant Street), in Burlington, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
