Obituary

Sulyma, Peter

Peacefully passed away at Cama Woodlands Nursing Home, on his 93rd birthday, April 16, 2020. Beloved husband and true life partner of Frances (nee Malko) for nearly 70 years. Loving father of Penny Saville (late Rick), the late Randy Sulyma, and Kathy De Jong (Neil). Cherished Gido of Brad (Kelly), Russ (Cat), Melody (Darren), Lance (Rachel), Kevin (Kim), Paul (Elizabeth), Phil and great-grandfather to 5. Dear brother of Anne Fedoruk, the late Bill Sulyma and the late Kathleen Dendewich (Mike). Peter’s life was an incredible story of hard work, determination and dedication to family. These values helped Peter and Fran to become pioneers in the Tool & Rental industry, operating ITE Rentals in Hamilton for over 50 years. Peter will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A private graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. If desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com

ITE Rentals was a vendor of mine for a great # of years when I worked for GE in Burlington. Peter and Fran were the nicest people to deal with and always treated me with great respect. I have only nice things to say about them. My condolences to Fran and your family . Thank you

From our family to yours, our sincerest condolences on the passing of Mr. Sulyma. I will always remember the Sulyma family....the only other Ukrainian family on the street we grew up on in Bayview Village. Kathy was my friend and have many fond memories of all the things we did together as children. Our mothers were the only moms we knew who worked, and recall , at the age of 9 or 10, the two of us going over to the Sulyma house to make lunch and bake cakes while Kathy's parents were away at work during the week. I always marvelled at their pink appliances and how Mrs. Sulyma could keep her house so clean when it seemed to me that both she and Mr. Sulyma were always hard at work. I don't remember Mr. Sulyma ever saying too much, but he was always nice to us as kids. And, I when I think of Mrs. Sulyma, I always picture her with that lovely smile of hers. Think of your family often every time I drive by your old house (still looks the same!) after visiting my mom.
