Obituary

VERRALL, Nancy

On December 30, 2019, at the age of 91 years Nancy Verrall died at her home at Maple Villa Long Term Care Burlington. Cherished Mum of Glenn, and Beth (Perry) Mahlmann and dear Nana to Jack and Sam. She is predeceased by her husband Jack Verrall. and her eldest son Stephen. Born in Darlington, England, Nancy and her young family emigrated to Canada in 1952 before adding Glenn, then Beth. The family came to Oakville from Hamilton in 1973, shortly before losing her husband in a car accident. Nancy loved the Town of Oakville, staying there until her final move to Maple Villa in 2016. Nancy had a long and very happy career as a palliative care nurse at Toronto Grace Hospital, working until she was almost 70 years old. Her job brought her great satisfaction and many dear friendships. Nancy's life was simple, but made so very rich by her kindness, love, and many friendships. Her family are especially grateful to the "family" at Maple Villa for the love and caring they gave Nancy the last few years, nurturing her mind, body, and great sense of humor! A Memorial Gathering is being held on Saturday, January 11, from 4-7p.m. at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333).

Last thoughts Beth, and I think you can remove it before “posting” on your Mum’s obit site
I have no other way to contact you
As you know, my breakup with Steve with was horrendous: I paid the price of being too kind and not claiming alimony
The “shrew” took it all
I have a chance to reclaim something - CPP - tax splitting, but will need our marriage certificate and Steve’s SIN to pursue

Hoping we can get past the “nasty stuff” Beth, maybe talk all this grief out and be friends again

I loved your Mum ... I was a true friend and good daughter-in-law for many years before Steve’s infidelity and ultimate passing...
I’m so happy she experienced the joy of being a grandmother
Much ”nasty stuff” - Sylvie’s impact on my life are likely almost done now -
Beth,, I had a nervous breakdown, and lost my job in the aftermath
I’m not well off - living at my mom’s and sleeping on her pull-out couch

I was too kind not asking Steve for alimony - I sure had a good case for it

Moving forward, I need a few docs to pursue CPP income splitting etc to claim what is legally mine

Sorry, this is the only link you didn’t bar me from
I’d rather cry, commiserate and start healing with you in person - heck, I was once your older Sis’

Guessing you can “remove” this from the “tribute wall” if you want before posting... but worth remembering

Looking back...

I’m very sad, for Beth and Glenn, to learn of Nancy’s passing - we were once a family.
During the many years I knew and loved Nancy, while married to Steve (her son - deceased)
I remember her sharp wit, the best English Trifie,
and most of all her sincere and dedicated caring to her family and to patients at Grace Hospital
Love,
Sheila
