CROSBY, Murray Keith
Murray passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Tansley Woods Retirement Home, Burlington, in his 88th year. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Carol (nee Evanchiew); daughter Connie Crosby of Toronto; son Jeff Crosby (Lynn) of Burlington, and his grandchildren Steven and Amy. Also survived by his sister Mildred of Port Maitland, Nova Scotia.
Murray was born and grew up on a farm with his five siblings in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He spent his career at the Bank of Montreal, travelling as an audit inspector and later, with Carol and the family, working in other roles, transferring to offices in several cities along the way, including Thunder Bay, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal and finally, Toronto, with the family settling in Burlington in 1979.
Murray had a love of board games which began with his parents and siblings on the farm in NS, and continued with his own kids. The family spent many summers camping across Canada, and Murray enjoyed golf, curling, travel and reading westerns. He recommended that everyone make sure to see the Rockettes!
After retirement, Murray played a lot more golf, and volunteered for many years as a driver for the Burlington office of The Canadian Cancer Society, taking patients to their medical appointments. He had memorable trips to Bermuda and Hawaii with Carol.
Murray was a kind, quiet, caring family man, very proud of his children and his two grandchildren. He lit up in smiles around his grand-dog, Tessa.
Thank you to the nurses and PSW staff at Emma’s Neighbourhood at Tansley Woods for their kind care of Murray. As per Murray’s wishes, private cremation has taken place and a private service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Murray’s name to The Alzheimer Society, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
