Obituary for Michael Joseph Sharkey

Sharkey, Michael Joseph
Suddenly after a brief illness at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on December 16 2022. Devoted Mikey to his Rudti, beloved Daddy to Pamela (Jason), Tara Kerwin (John) and proud Papa of Marin. He was a dedicated family man who loved nothing more then spending time with his girls.
Growing up in Queenston along the Niagara Parkway, he moved to NOTL where he met Ruth Ann. They married and later moved to Burlington where they spent the last 29 years, going on adventures and drives fueled by his love of coffee.
Predeceased by his parents,
Wilfred and Margaret, Sisters Mary and Margaret,
Brothers Peter and Paul, and Brother in Law, Bill Read.
Michael is survived by his sister Cathy Read, brother Jim ( Janice), sister in Law Nicole Sharkey as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
An avid golfer with his own putting green in the backyard, sailor through the Burlington Able Sail program and Special Olympics bowler and bocce competitor, after surviving a devastating stroke at age 42, Michael spent the next 24 years showing the world what all he could still accomplish.
Our grateful thanks to all the staff at OTMH for the exceptional and loving care they provided in his last few days.
Donations can be made in his memory to Able Sail Burlington, where Michael spent many happy hours over the years sailing the waters of Burlington Bay.
