Obituary for Maureen Thomas (Darch)

THOMAS, Maureen B. (nee Darch) 1932-2021

In the early hours of February 25th, 2021, Maureen passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital at the age of 88. Born and raised in Montreal, Maureen moved to Burlington in 1983 where she enjoyed many happy years with her husband until his passing. Beloved wife of James Malcolm “Mac”, mother of Robert “Bob” and his wife Anne of Hudson QC, Stephen “Steve” of Vancouver BC and Patricia “Trish” Sullivan and her husband Terry of Burlington ON. Cherished Grandmother “Nana” of Christopher (Ann), Jamie (Camille), Evan (Emily), Amy and Lisa, and Great-Grandmother of Emma, Blair and Willow. Special mention of her dear friend and sister-in-law Peggy Thomas who survives her in St. Catherines ON.

A devoted mother and wife who kept an impeccable home, Maureen enjoyed painting, gardening, knitting, antiquing, and all things ‘art’. Maureen was strong-willed and independent through her final days. Her strength and character will be greatly missed. Thank you to the staff of Joseph Brant Hospital for their tremendous care and compassion, and thanks to her neighbours and extended Sullivan family for always checking in on her.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. A Private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 1 p.m. For those who wish to attend via Livestream, please copy and paste this link into your browser:
