Obituary for Mary Wasylenky

WASYLENKY, Mary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Wasylenky at the Hamilton General Hospital on Monday, November 30th, 2020 in her 86th year. Loving wife of Rudy for 64 years; dear mother of sons Chris and Paul; doting grandmother of Justin, Raymond, Jessica, Kaitlyn and Taylor. Mary enjoyed her get-togethers with her family and close friends. At the many birthday celebrations, she was the one who brought in the cake with a big smile on her face. At all the gatherings with family and friends, she was the hostess with that same smile and genuine happiness to be with everyone.

Mary loved music, and most of all she loved the 20-plus years of playing her mandolin with the Welland Ukrainian Mandolin Orchestra. The weekly trips to Welland with her husband Rudy for rehearsals, and the many performances over those years, were among the most enjoyable times in her senior years. In her circle of family, friends and fellow musicians, she will be fondly remembered for her smiling face, her generosity and her hospitality.

The family extends a sincere “thank you” to the staff at the Pinegrove unit in St. Josephs Villa for the very good care they provided while Mary was there. Donations in Mary’s name to St. Josephs Villa or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A private family funeral has taken place. A celebration of life will follow when safe gatherings can be held.
