Passed away, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Monday, June 4, 2018, following a brief illness. Mary was the heart of her family, strong, loving and bright in spirit to the age of 85. She shared 59 wonderful years as the beloved wife of the late Frank Martin Opavsky (October 5, 2016). Loving mother, friend and support of Anne, David, Joseph and Kathryn, who will cherish her always. She will be deeply missed by daughter-in-law Pat Winslow (David) and son-in-law Peter Kirkpatrick (Kathryn). Treasured grandmother of Madlyn and Liam, Evan, Joseph and Kaleigh (Matt). Predeceased by her infant son, Peter (1960). Loving sister to Jackie Ambis, sister-in-law to Bob Ambis (Dr. Robert) and Auntie Mary to Bobby Ambis (Cassidy), Jennifer Jones (Steve), Susan Mcqueen (Scott) and Dr. Chris Ambis (Leanne). Great- nieces and -nephews Matt, Mitch, Taylor, MacKenzie, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Anthony and Katrina always made her smile. Mary and her kind heart, sense of humour and strong spirit will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 3-5p.m. and 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers 7p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, (Brant Street at Blairholm), Burlington on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 10:30am. Reception to follow. Private family interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In memory of Mary, those wishing to donate are asked to please consider Joseph Brant Hospital, where the care provided was wonderful and much appreciated during her time there.
