Obituary for Maria Ventricini (Diadamo)
Maria, in her 91st year, peacefully slipped away from us to eternal rest on February 27, 2023. Devoted wife of the late Francesco for 60 years. Loving mother of Penny and Doug Saunders and Laura and Tim Lacombe. She is survived by her grandchildren Tanja, Daniel, Kimberly and Mathew, as well as numerous great grand children and great great grand children. Maria is the treasured sister of Silvana DiDiodato, Anna Rapiti, Dina and Alberto Diadamo and Rossella and Alberto Rossini. Maria is also the respected aunt of many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada.
Maria was born in the idyllic town of Torrita (the Tiber River) on the outskirts of Rome. She immigrated to Canada in 1955, first settling in the coal mining village of Minto, New Brunswick. The family then moved to Ontario to pursue better economic opportunities. Here she began working earnestly in various settings.
Maria was the consummate homemaker, she excelled in the culinary arts, entertaining in her home and cultivating a beautiful garden. She enjoyed many travel experiences to Italy and Mexico with Francesco. Maria was the eldest daughter of Gina (D'Achille) and Gaspare Diadamo. She was the matriarch of our family. Francesco and Maria loved to dance, may they tango their way through the halls of paradise.
Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway # 8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4 -9 p.m. Vigil prayers at the Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church (304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek) on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Donations, if so desired, may be made to St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church.
