Obituary for Jean Guarascia

GUARASCIA, Margaret “Jean” (nee Duncan)

Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the age of 83. Loving and devoted wife of Anthony Peter Guarascia for 63 years. Cherished mother of Lawrence “Larry” Guarascia (Jackie Rose), Penny Prins (Allan), and Laurie Morin (Peter), and mother-in-law of Susan Guarascia. Proud grandmother of Lawrence Guarascia (Mary Cronin), Lindsay Guarascia (Chris McMenemy), Nicole Guarascia (Corey Young), Cassandra Prins and James Morin. Great-grandmother of Oisín Guarascia, Ailís Guarascia, Charley McMenemy, Colton McMenemy and Corbin Young. Dear sister of James Duncan (late Betty) and their family, nephews; Malcolm Duncan (Dale), Bruce Duncan, and Cameron Duncan (Carolyn). Jean will also be missed by the extended Guarascia and Duncan families, many friends and of course her precious fur babies, dogs; Ollie, Sammi and Dylan. Jean was a passionate lifetime member of the Halton Quilt Guild and also enjoyed over 30 years as a member of the North Metro Sweet Adeline’s Chorus. Special thank you to the PSW’s of Homewell and Bayshore for their kindness, compassion and the care that was provided to Jean, as her family we are forever grateful. As per Jean’s wishes, Private Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held for family and friends at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Funeral Home’s Chapel on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10:00am, with reception to immediately follow. Private Interment for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean to the Diabetes Association would be sincerely appreciated.
