VIVIAN, M. Doreen

It is with great sadness that the family of M. Doreen Vivian announces her peaceful passing at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 11, 2021, in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. William (Bill) Hartley Vivian and her brother Douglas George Rasberry. Doreen leaves behind her loving sons William David (Gail) and Gary James (Jean) and daughter Deborah Lynn (Paul). She will be truly missed and always loved by her grandchildren Katie (Joe), Tyler (Caroline), Gregory (Ally), Krista (Jason), Adam (Kristen), Sarah (Tony), Jennifer (Danny) and Laura (Sam) and great grandchildren Joseph, Isabelle, Eleanor, Audrey, Annabelle, Keira, Nolan and Griffin.

Doreen will be fondly remembered by siblings Joan and Jack. Doreen was a member of Nelson United Church and did not die alone and is not alone. She was a pastoral care provider, spent many years canvasing on behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society, a volunteer at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital and the taxi driver for everything kids as Dave, Gary and Deb grew up.

Doreen’s passions were Bill, their kids, grandkids, curling, golfing, travelling and boating at the cottages and Trent Canal.

The family would like to recognize and thank retired Reverend Jessie Jansen who was a very caring and good friend. Jessie provided great guidance and comfort to Doreen and her family over the last 50 years. The family would also like to recognize the Pauls, the Millers and staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their compassion and supportive care (Dr. Sidhu, Dr. MacDougall, Jessica, Elizabeth and Elijah).
Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to make a donation in the memory of Doreen are asked to please consider the Canadian Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Botanical Gardens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, July 19, 2021 by invitation only, due to restrictions and limited capacity.
