Obituary for Lorne Ivan Brisbin

Lorne Ivan Brisbin
BRISBIN, Lorne Ivan
1921-2018

Lorne passed away peacefully at Wellington Park Care Centre, Burlington on January 11, 2018 in his 97th year.

He is loved and missed by sons and daughters-in-law David and Margaret, Dan and Karen, grandchildren Ian (Andrea), Anne (Yann), Sarah and Andrew, great grandchildren Annika, Isla, Emilie and Theo, sisters Jean Harris (Ken) and June Shearer, brother-in-law David McIntosh and sisters-in-law Lee McIntosh, Joan McIntosh and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorne was predeceased by wives Marie (1985) and Eleanor (2011) and his sister Marjorie Clapperton.

Through his love of family, devotion to his country, meritorious war service with 101 Squadron, RAF (DFC) four decades of railroading with CNR, pride and joy in his fellowship in the Masonic Order and Shriners and unstinting generosity to a wide range of charities, Lorne was the embodiment of all that is good about Canada.

In recent years, Lorne faced a number of health issues with a quiet grace. Throughout this period, he benefitted from the professionalism and care of nurses and doctors at Joseph Brant Hospital along with his physicians, Drs. Yeung and Ghali. Even more so, the compassion and care of the staff at Martha’s Landing made it not his residence but truly his home.

As Lorne wished, cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 461 Elizabeth St, Burlington on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12p.m, with visitation beginning at 11a.m.

In lieu of flowers, if wished, donations to Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation, Knox Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
