It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leo James Russell, devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, Uncle, and friend, at the age of 93. He is now reunited with his wife of 58 years, Doris Russell. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends who affectionately called him Bing. Loving father of Valerie (Jack, deceased) MacDonald, Lynn (John) Morneau, Tracy (Luis, deceased), Bagaco, Kelly (Jim) McCully, Kim (David) Alton, and foster parent to Kinsey Stones. Pa will be missed by his fourteen grandchildren, Jason Maher, Steven Maher (Sandra), John Maher, Lucas Morneau (Chelsea Vineyard), Jordan Morneau (Michael Chalmers), Paul Bagaco, Eric Bagaco, Christopher Bagaco, Ashley McCully (Sam Elliott), Vanessa McCully, Emily Alton (Daniel Abbott), Alanna (Andrew) Cashin, Sydney Alton (Aaron Popper) and Alex Alton (Owen Young). Great-grandfather to Aiden, Avery, Aubree, Benjamin, and Theodore. Bing will also be missed by extended family, friends and neighbours. He grew up in The Pas Manitoba, the youngest of five children. He retired after working 46 years for CNCP, was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, and a long time parishioner of St. Raphael’s Church. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Friday, March 24 from 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church (4072 New St., Burlington) on Saturday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Burlington Memorial Gardens.
