Passed away peacefully at Chartwell Brant Centre Long Term Care Residence in Burlington on Saturday April 17, 2021 at the age of 92. Loving and devoted husband of Jean Podetz (nee Whitehead) for 72 years. Cherished father of the late Brenda Sherring (Jim), Norris Podetz (Ann), Donna Ellis (Michael), Lori Haywood (Russell), Stephen Podetz (Laurie McAlpine) and Lisa Bunda (Edsel Littlejohn). Proud Mosu of 12 and Stra Mosu of 13. Dear brother of Dani Podetz, late Gladys Cannon and late Maria Anton. Leo will also be fondly remembered by the extended Whitehead and Podetz families, numerous friends as well as the St. Christopher’s Anglican Church congregation. Avid member of the Burlington Carver’s Guild, long time verger at St Christopher’s, one time Burlington person of the year, chairman of the Burlington Centennial Committee and the founder and principal member of Uncle Leo’s Clowns. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at The Brant Centre for their kindness, compassion and the excellent care provided. Due to current gathering restrictions, a Funeral Service was held privately for immediate family, and as per Leo’s wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leo to St. Christopher’s Anglican Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
