Obituary for Kathryn June Rumney (Montgomery)

RUMNEY, Kathryn “Kay” June (nee Montgomery) 1931-2022

It is with great sadness that we announce Kay’s peaceful passing on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Chartwell Brant Centre in Burlington, Ontario. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lynne Ellen and Jeremy McLaughlin. Beloved aunt of Stephanie Pereira and Russel Lindridge, Rick Hogan (Jane) and Eileen Hogan. Predeceased by her parents Hilda and Russel Montgomery, sisters Irene Lindridge and Dorothy Hogan. Lifelong friend of Mary Lorimer, and dear friend of Joan Grassi (Bill), Betty Rumney and Pat Parent. Kay was employed for many years at Westinghouse until joining Case Construction Equipment as a partner with her former husband Allan Rumney. She then went on to become the Executive Director of the Burlington --Red Cross, where she put in place many of the programs that are still current today. Kay also enjoyed travelling twice yearly to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her sisters and friends. They were welcomed there like family by the numerous people they befriended due to their frequent visits and friendly nature. As per Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at Burlington Christian Fellowship Church, 2054 Mountainside Drive, Burlington on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. with an urn interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brant Centre Recreation Department, the Canadian Red Cross Society or Burlington Humane Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Special thanks to Robert Martin, Esq. and Smith’s Funeral Homes, and forever grateful to the wonderful staff at the Brant Centre.
