It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph DeFilippis in his 87th year on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Heritage Green Nursing Home in Stoney Creek. Joseph is now reunited in Heaven with the love of his life Lina. Loving father and father-in-law of Nick and Anna and Frank and Donna. Proud Nonno of Joseph (Winnie), Victoria (Tyler), Alessandra and Joseph, and great-nonno of Luca. Predeceased by his siblings Antonietta Lamonaca (Antonio), Giovanni (survived by sister-in-law Elvira) and Santo (survived by his sister-in-law Santa). Joseph will be dearly missed by sister-in-law Joanne Marchese (the late Charles), the late Dino Brucculeri (Marianna), Anna Esposto (Peter), and Nick Brucculeri (Sandra). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Italy and the United States. Joseph was born in Rutigliano (Bari) Italy and emigrated from Italy alone at the tender age of 19 to make a better life for his family back home, and future family in Canada. While still working at the Ford Motor company, Joseph fulfilled his dream of having his own business, and founded the DeFilippis Cut Stone and Marble Company in 1966. His talented craftsmanship can be found on numerous homes and buildings in Southern Ontario. Joseph and Lina found great pleasure in opening their home to family and friends and loved sharing delicious food and home-made wine at the farm and creating wonderful memories for those they loved. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Green Nursing Home, Magnolia wing, for the many years of care they provided to Joseph.
