I'll always remember you singing with my dad and uncle Randy at every party we had. So many good memories with you, especially at the cottage where you ran outside in the cold winter after being in the sauna. You were always making us laugh and I'll hold all those memories close to my heart! Prost im himmel mein Lieber Onkel Joe!

I hope we can celebrate the life Joe lived, remembering the good times we’ve shared as friends over the many years.

Seppl (JOE) was my oldest and dearest friend for 61 years. We met in Vienna as teenagers and had a lot of fun with our group of friends. Our friendship continued on in Canada where he was always part of our family and everybody enjoyed his humor. The poem from Albert Schweitzer says it all. DER MENSCH DEN WIR LIEBEN IST NICHT MEHR DA WO ER WAR, ABER UEBERALL DORT WO WIR SIND UND SEINER GEDENKEN. RUHE IN FRIEDEN

Joe fought long, hard and valiantly with his cancer. On January 21, he lost the battle.

Joe was our oldest and best friend, a prince of a guy and larger than life: deeply ethical, kind-hearted and considerate, loyal to a fault, stoic in the face of adversity, smart and knowledgeable, wise in the ways of the world, cool-headed and even-tempered, quick-witted, uproariously funny – a gifted storyteller. He has given us 50 years of friendship and memories of get-togethers that will never be forgotten. We miss him sorely – his companionship, his humour, his “teaching moments” and “history lessons”, his keen observations and hilarious anecdotes of life as he saw and experienced it. There are no words to describe our sadness.

Andrea and Petra: we grieve for your loss.
