Peacefully passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, Ontario on Friday, August 23, 2019
at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Matthews). Loving father of Linda (Bill)
Thompson. John will be deeply missed by his sister in law Eileen (late Chris), niece
Alison (Dominic) Fletcher and nephew David (Sheryl) Fletcher. Predeceased by siblings Michael
and Alan. John's professional life spanned 2 careers one with the British Army, Scots Guards 1950 - 1971
then immigrated to Canada in 1972 to work with the Bank of Montreal in Kitchener, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485
Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday,
September 6th from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the Service of Remembrance which will
be held in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow. For those who wish, donations
in memory of John to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated
by the family.
