Obituary for John McConnachie

It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden loss of John McConnachie, born in Dundee, Scotland on September 2nd, 1945, and died in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on February 4th, 2021 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Valerie, daughters Diane and Sarah, precious granddaughters Rachel and Chloe, and sons-in-law Scott and Kevin.
John was truly a gentle, kind man.
He was well respected by his lifelong pals, he loved Wednesdays, his day for golf, pub, and a good natter.
He was well respected by his workmates/bosses here and abroad, considered a "great worker", always respected, helpful and kind, and an all-round great guy. He asked for nothing and gave so much.
He will be sadly missed by many.
He had a great passion for adventure and had the opportunity to experience this with work and also with Valerie seeing many parts of the world, and, of course, there was always Vegas, where they used to go and play.
He enjoyed a good whisky and a good book.
He continued to be an avid follower of the Dundee Football Team even after immigration to Canada in 1968.
"Had we never lov'd sae kindly
had we never lov'd sae blindly
never met - or never parted - we
had ne'er been so broken-hearted"

Due to covid restrictions, we are having a private viewing/service at Smith's Funeral Home on Guelph Line, Burlington. When we are all safe from covid we will have a "gathering" to celebrate John's Life, he always did like a good party surrounded by family and friends.
